COMMUNITY MEALS 4-6 P.M.
The Community Meals held on Mondays at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City. The Community Meals are a joint effort from Family Pathways, Chisago Lake Lutheran, Trinity Lutheran, Zion Lutheran and the Methodist church. We started out with attendance at 60, and since then it has grown to 100 people a week. Each Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. people come and eat and visit with other people in our community. If you haven't come to the community meals, plan to come on a Monday and see for yourself. Family Pathways provides the food, and the churches supply the volunteers to work at the meals, the desserts and some beverages and napkins. We need volunteers from our church to work at the dinners. The sign up is in the hallway by the fellowship hall.. Please take a moment to look at your calendar and find a week that you can volunteer on Monday from 3:30-6:30. When you volunteer, you need to wear a hairnet or baseball cap and bring a pan of bars.
IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN: COME AND JOIN THE QUILTERS! Mondays - 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. Located in Bibleland Beginning January 10th through April. Bring a lunch. Rewarding service of CLLC. Our finished projects will be donated to those in need within our very own community and overseas.
The Caring Hands (Care Bearers) group is looking for your help. We have 4 services that we can provide for people in the congregation. We can visit people who need a visit, give out prayer shawls, furnish a meal for someone when needed, and we can help provide transportation for doctor appointments or treatments. We don't always hear about people who can use these services so we need your help. If you are aware of someone's need for our services call Eleanor Trippler at 257-4046 or Midge Zemlin at 257-3239. If you are interested in volunteering to help us in any of these areas please give us a call, too.

back to the top Al-Anon will be meeting at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Meetings will be held in the Undercroft (Bibleland).Fellow Christians, we are facing difficult times for our country and the world. You see it on the news, in newspapers and news magazines; stories of concern, anxiety, worry and fear about the economy. Close to home, in our own communities and county, people are suffering from this crisis. People are facing job losses, foreclosures, too little money to meet daily expenses, to provide food for their families and to buy gas to get to work. They are not at fault; this economic turmoil has victimized hardworking people. Can we skip having dinner out once in a while, forego a movie night, buy one or two fewer presents for Christmas, or other things you can think of, in order to help our neighbors to survive this crisis? Remember Christ’s definition of a neighbor and be willing to help. Following are ads for a number of projects to which you can give either items or money. Did you know that it takes $75,000 and 75,000 pounds of food annually at Family Pathways’ Lindstrom Pantry to meet the need for help. The need is rising because of the struggling economy. 125 families facing food shortages are currently being assisted with supplemental food and personal care items at each Family Pathways’ Food Pantry every month. Half of the people assisted with food are children. Half of the adults served are working, but with inadequate income to make ends meet. The food pantry in Lindstrom is in current need of: Canned foods Dish and laundry soap Dinner mixes Boxed foods Spaghetti sauces Soups Peanut butter, jelly Infant cereal and food Juice Sugar, Flour Shampoo and conditioner Toilet paper Deodorant, toothpaste Apples from those of you who have a surplus. Financial donations are needed to purchase dairy, bread and other items at a reduced rate from food banks. We want every Sunday through December to be Food Shelf Sunday and have the members bring in items for the collection box. This is getting to be a serious problem in Chisago County, and we need to help back to the top
Old Cell Phones for the REFUGE: You can recycle your old cell phones to the local shelter for battered women. If you have any cell phones, they can be dropped off in the church narthex in the box provided and they will be delivered to the Refuge. These phones do not need to work. They are only used to dial 911, and may help women escape a dangerous situation. “Secure the Call Foundation” takes the phones, cleans them, charges their batteries and then reprograms them to be used as free 911 emergency phones. Any phone that can be turned on can access 911 services even without a carrier service plan. Then the phones are distributed to domestic violence shelters, senior centers, neighborhood watch groups, school crossing guards and other agencies with an immediate need for 911 access. These free 911 emergency cell phones are available to individuals and organizations nationwide. No chargers or accessories are needed. They get new chargers donated to them by corporate donors. All are welcome who have or think they might have a problem. This will then be a closed meeting of Narcotics Anonymous.
One of the "behind the scenes" service groups at CLLC is the prayer group. Jesus taught his disciples to pray, and Paul encouraged his early congregations to "Pray without ceasing." Intercessory prayer is one of the important ways we can serve our fellow members and their loved ones. If you would like to become a pray-er in our prayer group, or if you have a prayer request, call Midge Zemlin at 257-3231. We have three telephone chains and one e-mail. Those pray-ers who can, meet once each month (except December) for prayer and fellowship. Won’t you join us? Attention Knitters, Crocheters, or Bored Individuals: We have just acquired some beautiful new Homespun yarn and now we need volunteers to transform it into beautiful new prayer shawls. If you would like to knit or crochet a Prayer Shawl, please stop by the office and pick up some of this lovely yarn, curl up in a warm spot, and share your warmth and caring by making a Prayer Shawl. Prayer Shawls are given to those in need of comfort. This may include those experiencing illness, loss, or a difficult transition where an awareness of God’s peace and powerful love will bring comfort and solace.
CLLC’s table and chair rental for members offered. Many of our members need tables and chairs for graduation, confirmation open houses and other events throughout the summer. The 11 long tables and many metal chairs are available to rent for this purpose. Rental cost is $5.00 per table, or $10.00 for one table and 8-10 chairs. This usage offer is only available to members of our church. These tables and chairs are stored in the garage, which will facilitate their pickup and return. If you are interested, please contact the church office at 257-6300 to arrange for the rental.
