THE FOOD PANTRIES OF The statistics from Chisago County Food Pantries are heartbreaking! Bring in your non-perishable items now! You can drop them off in the box in the narthex. Neighbors helping neighbors is the Minnesota way. Please join CLLC in helping fill the local pantries. THEY SERVED US. NOW THEY NEED OUR HELP. Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), a non profit organization dedicated to helping Minnesota veterans. As many as 4,300 veterans of all wars are homeless in Minnesota or at risk of becoming homeless sometime during the year. These men and women, who honorably served their nation and defended our shared values, now struggle in their own country. They live on the street, suffering from physical or mental problems. Many live outdoors because their military training enables them to do so. They often delay seeking help-due to their deeply held sense of honor, duty and country, they believe that women and children must be served first. MACV is dedicated to honoring their service and returning these men and women to productive lives with hope, dignity, and self-determination…in the nation they once defended. Let’s help them out. They are in need of: New - men’s large and extra large t-shirts New - men’s large and extra large underwear New or slightly used - men’s large and extra large sweatshirts and sweatpants. Regular size shaving cream, shampoo, disposable razors and greeting cards. This will be an ongoing collection for our American veterans. You can put your donations in the cedar box located in the narthex. Kathy Vitalis, (daughter in law of Jerry Vitalis) is Executive Director and has asked for our help. The quilting ladies of CLLC have donated quilts to this organization, which was greatly appreciated. ARE YOU BONKERS FOR BUNKO? contact Dawn Burger Sandberg at 257-5077 One of the "behind the scenes" service groups at CLLC is the prayer group. Jesus taught his disciples to pray, and Paul encouraged his early congregations to "Pray without ceasing." Intercessory prayer is one of the important ways we can serve our fellow members and their loved ones. If you would like to become a pray-er in our prayer group, or if you have a prayer request, call Eunice Anderson, 257-4762. We have three telephone chains and one e-mail. Those pray-ers who can, meet once each month (except December) for prayer and fellowship. Won’t you join us? Attention Knitters, Crocheters, or Bored Individuals: Use your
knitting/crocheting skills, or learn to do these skills, while helping
others. The Health Ministry Task Force is looking for individuals to
create prayer shawls for those who could benefit from comfort and
prayers during difficult times in their life. If you are interested in
making the shawls, learning how to make the shawls, wish to donate
supplies/money, or know of someone that might benefit from a prayer
shawl please contact the
Rewarding service of CLLC. Our finished projects will be donated to those in need within our area and overseas. Quilters will resume in January.
Come and sing in the Senior Choir. Rehearsals are each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Come and join in music and fellowship. Everyone welcome!
