Sponsored by Family Pathways this program will be offered the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Undercroft.

Helping Minnesota Veterans

THEY SERVED US. NOW THEY NEED OUR HELP.

Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), a non profit organization dedicated to helping Minnesota veterans. As many as 4,300 veterans of all wars are homeless in Minnesota or at risk of becoming homeless sometime during the year. These men and women, who honorably served their nation and defended our shared values, now struggle in their own country. They live on the street, suffering from physical or mental problems. Many live outdoors because their military training enables them to do so. They often delay seeking help-due to their deeply held sense of honor, duty and country, they believe that women and children must be served first. MACV is dedicated to honoring their service and returning these men and women to productive lives with hope, dignity, and self-determination…in the nation they once defended. Let’s help them out.

They are in need of:

New - men’s large and extra large t-shirts

New - men’s large and extra large underwear

New or slightly used - men’s large and extra large sweatshirts and sweatpants.

Regular size shaving cream, shampoo, disposable razors and greeting cards.

This will be an ongoing collection for our American veterans. You can put your donations in the cedar box located in the narthex.

Kathy Vitalis, (daughter in law of Jerry Vitalis) is Executive Director and has asked for our help. The quilting ladies of CLLC have donated quilts to this organization, which was greatly appreciated.

Historical DVD & Photo Disk

FOR SALE - The Historical Committee has converted old movie films found in the archives into one 38-minute DVD. It is fascinating and shows, among other things, the confirmation reunion of 1938, church picnics, relay races, the parsonage and old chapel, games of horseshoes and volleyball, and a wonderful fishing excursion on a local lake. Copies may be ordered through the Committee for $7.00 each

CHURCH PHOTOS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
Church history buffs, serious researchers, and long-time members may be interested in a set of CDs that the History Committee has produced and now offers for sale. Every photo in the Heritage Room (some 778) has been scanned and saved to disc, ready to be printed on your computer. Accompanying the photo disc is an index CD with an alphabetical listing of all photos, their location in the Heritage Room, and the call number for locating them on the photo disc. Since many subjects are cross-referenced, there are 1127 entries for the 778 photos.

The completed process means that photos will always be safe and available for quick reprint by anybody who has a computer with CD access. The 2-disc set may be purchased for $25 with a guarantee of money back if you cannot make it work on your equipment. Reprints of old confirmation photos continue to be available in professional quality for $10 each even though they are also included in the new CD sets. See the church office or a member of the History Committee for assistance in ordering.

CLLC PRAYER GROUP

One of the "behind the scenes" service groups at CLLC is the prayer group. Jesus taught his disciples to pray, and Paul encouraged his early congregations to "Pray without ceasing." Intercessory prayer is one of the important ways we can serve our fellow members and their loved ones.

If you would like to become a pray-er in our prayer group, or if you have a prayer request, call Eunice Anderson, 257-4762.  We have three telephone chains and one e-mail.

Those pray-ers who can, meet once each month (except December) for prayer and fellowship. Won’t you join us?
