THE FOOD PANTRIES OF The statistics from Chisago County Food Pantries are heartbreaking! Bring in your non-perishable items now! You can drop them off in the box in the narthex. Neighbors helping neighbors is the Minnesota way. Please join CLLC in helping fill the local pantries. THEY SERVED US. NOW THEY NEED OUR HELP. Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), a non profit organization dedicated to helping Minnesota veterans. As many as 4,300 veterans of all wars are homeless in Minnesota or at risk of becoming homeless sometime during the year. These men and women, who honorably served their nation and defended our shared values, now struggle in their own country. They live on the street, suffering from physical or mental problems. Many live outdoors because their military training enables them to do so. They often delay seeking help-due to their deeply held sense of honor, duty and country, they believe that women and children must be served first. MACV is dedicated to honoring their service and returning these men and women to productive lives with hope, dignity, and self-determination…in the nation they once defended. Let’s help them out. They are in need of: New - men’s large and extra large t-shirts New - men’s large and extra large underwear New or slightly used - men’s large and extra large sweatshirts and sweatpants. Regular size shaving cream, shampoo, disposable razors and greeting cards. This will be an ongoing collection for our American veterans. You can put your donations in the cedar box located in the narthex. Kathy Vitalis, (daughter in law of Jerry Vitalis) is Executive Director and has asked for our help. The quilting ladies of CLLC have donated quilts to this organization, which was greatly appreciated.
Old Cell Phones for the REFUGE: You can recycle your old cell phones to the local shelter for battered women. If you have any cell phones, they can be dropped off in the church narthex in the box provided and they will be delivered to the Refuge. These phones do not need to work. They are only used to dial 911, and may help women escape a dangerous situation. “Secure the Call Foundation” takes the phones, cleans them, charges their batteries and then reprograms them to be used as free 911 emergency phones. Any phone that can be turned on can access 911 services even without a carrier service plan. Then the phones are distributed to domestic violence shelters, senior centers, neighborhood watch groups, school crossing guards and other agencies with an immediate need for 911 access. These free 911 emergency cell phones are available to individuals and organizations nationwide. No chargers or accessories are needed. They get new chargers donated to them by corporate donors. Historical DVD & Photo Disk FOR SALE - The Historical Committee has converted old movie films found in the archives into one 38-minute DVD. It is fascinating and shows, among other things, the confirmation reunion of 1938, church picnics, relay races, the parsonage and old chapel, games of horseshoes and volleyball, and a wonderful fishing excursion on a local lake. Copies may be ordered through the Committee for $7.00 each CHURCH PHOTOS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE We are always accepting donations of the material items needed for

One of the "behind the scenes" service groups at CLLC is the prayer group. Jesus taught his disciples to pray, and Paul encouraged his early congregations to "Pray without ceasing." Intercessory prayer is one of the important ways we can serve our fellow members and their loved ones. If you would like to become a pray-er in our prayer group, or if you have a prayer request, call Eunice Anderson, 257-4762. We have three telephone chains and one e-mail. Those pray-ers who can, meet once each month (except December) for prayer and fellowship. Won’t you join us? Attention Knitters, Crocheters, or Bored Individuals: We have just acquired some beautiful new Homespun yarn and now we need volunteers to transform it into beautiful new prayer shawls. If you would like to knit or crochet a Prayer Shawl, please stop by the office and pick up some of this lovely yarn, curl up in a warm spot, and share your warmth and caring by making a Prayer Shawl. Prayer Shawls are given to those in need of comfort. This may include those experiencing illness, loss, or a difficult transition where an awareness of God’s peace and powerful love will bring comfort and solace.
