Lighten Our Darkness: Finding Hope in the Crucified God In the midst of candlelight, surrounded by the beautiful liturgy of “Holden Evening Prayer”, we will gather once again this Lenten season for midweek worship. Here we will listen for God’s voice in the midst of the darkness of the night…the voice that brings light, and lessens the chill of winter. Our brief messages those nights will focus on the theme, “Lighten our Darkness: Finding Hope in the Crucified God”. The topics are inspired and assisted by Barbara Brown Taylor’s book, God in Pain. As she says, we all understand human pain to one degree or another. But how can we understand God’s pain? Perhaps we can catch but a glimpse in these days leading to the Cross of Calvary. Come to Midweek worship. Come to hear God’s voice in the words and music. Come to see the light and feel the warmth that grows with the hope of new life. Whole and Holy Kids: Helping Parents Raise Children of Faith About the ClassHappy, healthy, holy kids: that is the desire of every Christian parent. Deep inside every parent is the hope that their child will be able to navigate life – its achievements and challenges – with confidence and integrity. As children grow intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically parents look on with amazement. It is the spiritual growth of their child that often makes parents feel uncertain. As a community of faith, we promise to help equip parents to teach their children. Whole and Holy Kids will offer developmental information, ideas and resources to aid parents as they help their children grow.
